If you are interested in any of the classes offered below, be sure to sign up at your earliest convenience as classes are small in size to maintain safety and quality control. Payment in full is due upon registration and can be made in person or by phone by contacting Boxers Bed & Biscuits at 740-423-7777. All training candidates must be registered on our website (see link to the right) and must be current on all core vaccines (Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella and Canine Influenza).  The vaccines are available through your veterinarian or through our in-house veterinary clinic, Boxers Meds & Fixits, by calling 740-525-3333. • 4-6 Dogs Per Class

  • Wednesdays, 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Puppy Kindergarten Class is for puppies, 12 to 24 weeks old, at the start of class. We cover a variety of puppy issues such as mouthing, crate training, socialization and house training. In addition, we introduce puppy manners and obedience cues (i.e. "sit, down, come").  The program goal is to set your puppy up for success as he or she matures into adulthood and continued training. (Please, no puppies on retractable leashes or wearing chain collars)

"Dog About Town Obedience" Trainer: Amanda

  • 6 Weeks

  • $200 Per Dog

  • 6-8 Dogs Per Class

  • Thursdays, 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Dog About Town Obedience Class is designed to teach the basic commands ("Heel, Sit, Down, Come, Leave It, Drop It" and the importance of the word "No"). Behavioral problems such as mouthing and jumping, as well as others, will be addressed. Throughout the class, handlers will learn to deal with everyday situations with their dogs (i.e. different surfaces that may startle dogs, common sounds like cars, horns and breaking glass, introductions to people and other animals, how to ignore distractions like other dogs and fast-moving critters). Each dog team will be supplied 1st-level training devices that may be needed. All dog owners should bring their dog's favorite treats and attend Day 1 on a collar and a 4-6ft. leash (no retractable leashes). This course is available to dogs 6 months of age and older.

"Board/Daycare and Train" Trainers: Amanda & Melisa

  • 4 Weeks Training Time (3 Days w/Trainer during Boarding/Daycare; 3 Classes with Pet Owner, Once a Week)

  • $200 Per Dog (plus Standard Boarding/Daycare Fee)

  • 4 Dogs Per Week (Classes for Owner may have up to 16 Dog and Owner Teams)

  • Group Classes, Fridays, 7-8 p.m. for 3 Weeks OR Saturdays, 11 a.m.-12 p.m. for 3 Weeks

This class is designed for busy pet owners who request that their dogs be trained mostly in their absence. Each dog will learn basic obedience and manners, as well as socialization. Most importantly, your dog will not miss out on play time, as we will train during the 12-2 Naptime.  Owners will, however, be required to participate in 3, 1-Hour group training sessions to complete the course. Please send training treats, or you may purchase them in our retail lobby to be used during the training sessions. Daily progress reports will be provided.

"Urban Agility/The K9 Ninja" Trainers: Amanda & Melisa

  • 5 Weeks

  • $150 Per Dog

  • 4-6 Dogs Per Class

  • Saturdays, 6:00-7:30 p.m. (Rotating Class with Nosework)

This class is Military-K9-Training inspired! Exercises include jumps, balances, climbs, crawls and more, simply using the world around you. This is an Urban Agility designed to make the world around you fun for both you and your Fur-Buddy! Basic Obedience is required before taking on this challenge. The bonding and trust that you and your dog will gain from making the world your playground is one of the greatest experiences you may ever know. This course will not only make walks more fun, but it will also prepare you for the K9 Mud Runs that continue to grow in popularity. This class is available for dogs 1 year of age and older.

"Intro to Nosework" Trainers: Amanda & Melisa

  • 5 Weeks

  • $150 Per Dog

  • 4-6 Dogs Per Class

  • Saturdays, 6:00-7:30 p.m. (Rotating Class with Urban Agility)

This is a sport that mimics the task of working detection dogs to locate a scent and communicate to the handler that the scent has been found. Real-life detection dogs are trained to search for a variety of things -- drugs, explosives, human remains, living humans (Search & Rescue), currency and various other contraband. Nosework takes this amazing working relationship and turns it into a fun game that any dog can play. Training scents that will be used are the same as in AKC Scent Work Training: Birch, Anise, Clove and/or Cypress. This course is available for dogs 6 months of age and older.

"Personal Protection" Trainer: Amanda

  • 40 Weeks

  • $2,400 Per Dog

  • 2-3 Dogs Per 2 Months

  • Saturdays, 1:00-5:30 p.m.

This class is specifically designed to ensure your dog is still a friendly, social member of the family and not a public liability. Your dog should already have passed Basic Obedience and will learn Off-Leash Obedience as a part of this course. Your dog will be taught to alert to intruders by barking and placing themselves between the threat and their owners. These dogs are NOT trained to ATTACK, but instead to defend their master when a threat arises.  Training scenarios help the dogs understand the difference between a legitimate threat and "horseplay." The dog learns to defend only on command and not on their own volition. This course is available to dogs ages 9 months and older.

"Service Dog" Trainer: Amanda

  • Time Varies

  • $50 Per Lesson

  • 1-3 Dogs Per 6 Months

  • Wednesdays, 2-6 p.m.
